This was my first, and last stay in a caravan park. I would agree with one of the ratings from a guest in 2007 – what a strange place for a holiday park – we expected the beach to be a lot nearer than it was and resorted to using the car to get around which I’d vowed not to do before we set off. Being a family that isn’t rooted to staying in a hotel/self catering accomodation 24 hours a day we found it difficult to walk anywhere because it’s primarily on main roads – not good with kids, not much to see.

The check in process was horrendous and humiliating actually – lets see how many people we can cram in a room and get them sat waiting for as long as possible to get their keys – like queueing at the airport with people lining up for a good spot to get in before everyone else. It felt like the staff were laughing at all the idiots who hadn’t paid extra for early check in.

On our departure a cleaner asked my mum dad and a sister who were staying in the caravn next door how long they were going to be (Just after 9.00 am) and was hanging around up until 10.00 am obviously because they wanted to clean it quickly for an early arrival – as a result she left a coat in the wardrobe. I don’t think it is fair to wait until 4.00 pm to check people in and then expect them to leave before 10.00 am on the day of departure.

I would have rated the stay higher mainly because the kids enjoyed the overall break but the post visit experience we had with Haven has been extremely poor – their lack of interest/action to retrieve the coat my sister left in the caravan was extremely poor. The Park never returned her calls and by the time anyone managed to go and have a look a number of other additional sets of guests had been in and surprise surprise the coat had gone. Whilst it is good to keep the guests you have with you at the time happy, eveyone leaving is also a future guest and our treatment after the visit has coloured our judgement about Haven in general.

went for a week during the easter hols April 2010 had a great time. Entertainment on site was exellent, plenty to do for all the family.

very expensive to buy soft drinks or eats in the bars, but if you have a car you are only a short drive from Asda.

went into Blackpool a couple of day that was nice but very expensive but worth the experience.

Caravan was clean and tidy had all the basic requirements but my one complaint was the mattress’s are in desperate need of being replaced could feel every spring in them.

apart from not sleeping well, we had a great time and would def go back as long as mattress’s get changed.

We’ve just been for the weekend and I can’t fault the place it was fantastic!

Although the weather wasn’t great there was plenty to do and my children didn’t get bored once.

The caravan was lovely even though it was only standard, everything was well organised and the entertainment was fab! The swimming pool was really good even though we had to queue for a short time as it was full.

My only complaint is the prices, 70p for a milkybar, £3.50 for a hot dog (£14 to buy hot dogs for my family, don’t think so) and the prices in the shops were higher than what I would expect to pay.

But overall a great weekend, we’re gonna book for a week next time.

I’ve been going to Cala Gran since the age of 12. Both me and my 2 brothers and my mum and dad would go twice a year. Then it was my turn to take my family.

We tryed other haven sites but always returned to Cala Gran. It has always catered for all ages.

We’ve had the basic caravan in 2007 but it was beautiful. The caravan was immaculate [april] went back July 2008 – weather was not brill but that didnt spoil our holiday – had a brill time.

Everyone was very helpfull no matter what we asked. There was never any trouble on site.

What was exiting for my youngest two kids was that at night they were able to feed some fox cubs right under our caravan, which they don’t see at home. Daytime they would feed the ducks that came.

We;ve booked again for July 2009, booked while i was there. Cant wait to go!

If any body says they dont like Cala Gran its up to them, but i will be coming back to Cala Gran year after year because its a brillant site and i love everyone and everything about it.

I would recommend it to anyone.

My family and I have just returned from our half term break at this park.

We stayed 4 nights in one of the gold caravans which we found okay apart from an uncleaned freezer it was all frosted over so you couldn,t get any food in! but we managed to live with it. Otherwise it were pretty clean and the beds were made up on arrival.
The pool area was very small and pretty boring only a small slide.

The local bus no 14 stops right outside the park so you can get to Freeport, Fleetwood and Blackpool quite easily.

Fleetwood market not much cop, more for older folk lots of coaches were parked up full of pensioners v boring for kids. Try BURY Market in Lancashire it is brilliant !

Blackpool was definately the best, Blackpool Tower cost a lot but worth it for kids take lots of food n drink as very pricey once inside.

A strange place for a caravan park. 2 miles from the beach and set in amongst what appears to be some sort of industrial area.

The vans on this park are crammed far too close together, this means that not only can you hear just about everything your neighbour says but you don’t have any space to park your car next to your van.

The ground around the park is very boggy. we had a full dry week when we were there yet the place was still very muddy by the time we left on the Saturday.
Reception told me that there was a problem with the drains – contributors on other websites seem to conform that this boggyness is something this park has been plagued with for a few years. The drain problem also caused a pretty unpleasant smell on the north end of the park.

Although the staff were all very nice and pleasant their lack of knowledge of their own part of the world was frightening. They know nothing about the trams – one of the main modes of transport between Fleetwood and Blackpool.

The pool area is small and I was a bit concerned over the apparent lack of control over the number of people using it at any one time. The changing areas are fine if a bit flooded. Lockers are available.

The kids outdoor play area was adequate but lacking in any supervision to such an extent that myself and other parents hd to bring some of the young teenage troublmakers in to line – they were smaching glasses and trying to kick holes in the kids climbing gear.

Not a park I would recommend.
