We were really excited as this was our first caravan exposure so here we go….our horrific experience with Haven Merton mere holiday in the caravan.
I would love to start with our first day at Merton mere, we arrived around 11 at night and got the keys from the security booth, drove to our caravan to find out there was only one double bedroom even after confirming on the that we are two couples and one single adult (no kids). Beds are way too small for a person who is only 4’11′” (That’s me) and I am sure kids nowadays are pretty tall and healthy, so they can’t fit in that either. You can not toss and turn(if you do you will be on the floor) We turned on the water tap to brush our teeth and guess what no water, turned on heaters as it was really cold at night but bedroom heating wasn’t working. (Survived first night somehow)
The Second day we went to the reception to address the issue as we were going out to explore the nature, they confirmed they have fixed the water issue and the heating issue. Came back tired after having a really good day exploring Lancashire’s beauty thinking everything is sorted nothing to worry. But guess what only water was running but was proper hot you can’t even think about having a shower(no mixtures of hot and cold water, heating was as it is not fixed. I decided to sleep on the sofa, as the only heating was working was in the sitting area. Around my sister and her hubby came out to sleep in the sitting area and they decided to sleep on the sofa too. so we spent 3nights like that, freezing ourselves in the cold, after coming back to London all of us are ill and it’s been a week now and we haven’t recovered yet.
Please Please Please don’t take your kids as it’s definitely not good for health.
Haven needs to consider health and safety of the people seriously.

I have just returned home after 1 week here was disappointed with our caravan there was a big gap at the bottom of the door so you could feel a draft the toilet seat in 1 of the toilets was loose and as we had 2 cars we only had a space for 1 so we had to park the other near reception. This is the first time when I arrived at a Haven caravan holiday we had to make up our own beds (would have understood if the linen was not included in the price). The site its self is clean and suited for children and not for couples as not much entertainment . Would I book again NO WAY only high light of my week was seeing the lights in Blackpool

We took our 18 month old son to stay in a caravan for 4 nights (6th May 2013 – 10th May 2013) and I couldn’t fault it at all!

The caravan was incredibly clean when we arrived, the staff were very friendly and approachable and the food on site was excellent. We ate there every night and had breakfast there twice.

There is a bus service that stops on site which takes you to the local attractions which are close by.

I will definitely be returning in future and I wish I’d booked for us to stay longer!

Just back from a long Easter weekend in Blackpool.

We have been going to Haven holiday camps for a few years now and normally would give a 9 out of 10 (sorry they would lose 1 mark for the overpriced food). However this year I have reluctantly given them a 5.

In past years the entertainment has been great for the kids (now 5 and 7) however Haven seem to have changed the format of the shows for the kids and it is virtually 100% centred around dancing, whereas there used to be a show for the kids.

This doesn’t add variety to the kids entertainment as all they get now are the characters prancing around on stage ‘singing’ a few songs. They used to love the shows but on the last night they asked not to go to the show and wanted to do something else instead (unheard of in previous years).

Sorry Haven you have made a right mess of the entertainment now and to be honest I am not sure if we would return.

just back from a week at this site and found it to be very enjoyable. Myself, my wife and 3 children all had a very nice stay in a static there

Place was clean and staff made sure no one was rowdy and causing trouble, would defo go back again .

only thing that marred our holiday was our digital camera worth £240 was stolen from our table when we went for drinks and we never noticed it missing till the next day as we both thought on off us must have picked it up even tho we asked staff and lost and found no luck and they didnt seem to be bothered about it so keep ur personal stuff safe .b

But as for holiday, loved it, just no pics to show kids all they done on holiday and pics they had of friends they met and the staff they had pic taken with. Still, we have our memories.

I have just returned from staying at Marton Mere Haven site. Visited 11th April – 15th April 2011.

After reading the reviews, I was quite nervous about visiting the site, even after going a couple of years back and it was still brilliant then!

We turned up ALL staff very polite and helpful.
    Food on site is perfect.

    Entertainment is really good aswell.
Caravan spotless and very nice inside and outside.

Lovely little nature reserve with a couple of bird hides and a nice little walk around the lake.

Blackpool is a up and coming city (Rebuilding Blackpool Tower, Seafront, Trams, Madame Tussauds).

On the last night, everyone got given free giftcards with £5 for the amusements to try out the new swipe system !!

Amusements and Amenities spotless and lots to do for people of all ages.

Will defiantly return late this year and maybe next year aswell !!

Ignore all the BAD reviews !!
Visit the site, you won’t be disappointed !

    :

Just returned from our 5th trip to Marton Mere. Even over the past year what a difference to the park and to Blackpool itself.

As always the staff cannot do enough for you and the entertainment for the kids is fantastic, my kids would have went bananas if we weren’t in the show bar for the start of the evenings entertainment.

The only down side was that there was only 1 member of staff serving in the chip shop on site, everything was made fresh and only 1 person served at a time which meant at peak times you could wait for up to 30 minutes which isn’t great when you have 3 kids wanting something to eat, however the food was really good.

All in all another great holiday and can’t wait to return next year.

I had had a bad experience previously staying at Cala Gran in Fleetwood, Marton Mere has restored my faith.

We returned today from our 4 night holiday 2 adults 2 children (13 & 14). When we arrived were meant to checkin from 2pm which we were told on the phone but accom not avail till 4pm this was not an issue as the staff could not do more to make sure we were comfortable.

The accomodation (Windsor 67) Delux caravan was absolutely immaculate i could not fault it the van was new and modern everything was clean and plenty of bedding.

The staff in amusements, cafe bar, and showbar could not have done more to ensure you enjoyed your stay.

We ate in the cafe bar a couple of days food good and reasonable, evening entertainment was fun and bar very reasonably priced.

All in all a very relaxing enjoyable few days, will definetley be re booking. Well done Marton Mere after a few years going to Cala Gran i can now see what we have been missing.
